Hello, I’m Ricky (Richard) Meyer, a North Carolina-based artist, Army Veteran, and Appalachian Trail thru-hiker. My artistic journey began in childhood with drawing cartoons and evolved in high school when I developed a passion for oil painting, inspired by the masters’ ability to capture the human experience. I am committed to creating meaningful and evocative imagery that reflects both observation and imagination.

My watercolor illustrations are influenced by nature and characterized by a sketchy, expressive style that balances spontaneity with careful observation. My oil paintings employ more traditional techniques while seeking to convey the story or emotion behind each subject. Together with my partner David Utley, I co-own Beautifully Savage, a mural and art installation business. I also teach art, print my own work, and accept commissions—all driven by a deep dedication to creativity and artistic exploration.
