Blog Post Title One (Beginnings)

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Richard, although I usually go by Ricky (unless you are a fellow backpacker and then my trail name is also R2.) My intention is to give updates about my professional and personal art journey and invite those interested to follow along.

Today, for example, I am publishing my website and getting Printify connected to it for folks to purchase prints and other merch. I have also recently started renting a studio space to have a place I can be more productive. It has been hit or miss when I go ironically enough although I will be back in there after this week. The artists who own the place are very nice and welcoming and when I am in the studio, I feel at home. The time spent holding the brush in my hand, listening to my “Artistic Groove” playlist on Spotify, life seems to make sense.

There are several projects I am currently working on including: a mural for my niece, a portrait commision in oils, a mountain acrylic piece for the new rock climbing gym behind Fusion gallery, and a collection of large oil paintings incorporating my favorite tea pot.

Aside from those projects, I have another art show coming up on the third Friday in November over at Outer Loop studio in Durham, NC, little commision things, practicing plein air, and constantly working on my outdoor market game plan.

It has been a lot of work and migraines. I am grateful to have the kinds of challenges that come with creating artwork for a living as much as I am looking forward to not stressing over balancing it with a day job (which I am also very thankful to have) One day at a time!
