Blog Post Title Two (a few new things)

A few new things are in the works and a couple have started! I signed up for a couple new big markets while on the vigilant lookout for more to expand my efforts on the print sales business. I also just sold a couple prints yesterday from Fusion which felt great! I love the opportunity to connect with folks who really enjoy my finished art the way I felt while creating it. Today I am linking Fusion registration to the website to make it a little easier for students to sign up.

Classes are great so far. It has been a fun energy trying to communicate what I do in my sketchbook to someone else. Everyone is a bit different and in the class for something more specific than I had intended, but it is an opportunity to stretch my teaching ability and strengthen skills for those who really want to get into their drawings. In the near future I would like to teach at my studio a painting skill and provide one on one instruction.

My art career is a multi-level organic organism where all things help each other. I am developing my painting ability to be faster and more expressive. I have a tendency to be tight (especially since that is what helps to pay rent at the end of the day) however, one can always get tighter. It is a challenge to marry “tight” and “loose” the way Sargent does but I am happy to see my brushwork move in that sublime direction! Lately, I have gotten back into master studies using loose color first and then tightening up from there. Meeting other artists and taking more instruction online and in person has been very helpful. I am excited to teach for the same reason I am excited to learn.

Art as a practice must be nurtured. Its a way for humans to connect spiritually with each other and to themselves. The ambiguity of us seems to make more sense somehow where there is some kind of medium for us to mess with. Our hands and mind combined are the greatest tools in my opinion and the more we develop our natural tools we bear some responsibility in how we communicate. Our souls yearn for love and conscious communication.
